Warsaw. Puławska near Goworka, they came back to build a sidewalk and a path

Exactly 12 months ago, trams returned to Puławska after a year's absence.. Although traffic has been cleared, the area has not stopped looking like a construction site. The contractor of the tram route to Wilanów left some of the work (paths, sidewalks, parking lots, greenery) for later. The makeshift solution turned out to be more durable than anyone expected.. In recent days, workers have returned to the site. They have completed the sidewalk and bike path at the height of the bookstore and ice cream parlor, as well as closer to the office building and the Plac Unii shopping center.

– The section between Plac Unii Lubelskiej and Goworka Street has already been completed, including the development of sedum on the track after the completion of the repair plan. We have laid a binding layer on the bicycle paths so that the surface is uniform on the entire path, we will also lay a wearing course and plant shrubs and grasses – confirms Michał Wrzosek, press spokesman for the contractor company Budimex.

But this does not mean the end of the work. On the western side of Puławska (next to the veteran center) the sidewalk is still dug up and temporary solutions. Two companies are responsible for this area. – The sidewalk on the western side is partly in the scope of Budimex, and partly – Balzola (they are also building a tram line on Rakowiecka – ed.). The subject is subject to coordination and paving works will soon begin on this side of the street as well – assures Witold Urbanowicz, spokesman for Tramwaje Warszawskie.

The part of the intersection by the huge PKO BP office building (or as older Warsaw residents say – by the Moskwa cinema) looks ready. However, there will also be changes there, because what was built completely ignored the needs of cyclists. Officials promise that a path will be marked out. A replacement project is constantly “in preparation”, and it is only a hundred meters.

– As part of the design work, the details of specific solutions are being agreed and processed with other city units or administrators – explains the spokesman for Tramwaje Warszawskie. When asked about the investment completion date, he replies: – At the moment, we assume that the work could be completed by the end of the year, but we will be able to say more about the schedule when the design stage is completed and we receive the full documentation.
