Warsaw-Radom Airport with a new connection to Bulgaria

On Tuesday, the first LOT flight to Varna, Bulgaria, from the Warsaw-Radom airport was inaugurated. Other regular destinations from Radom operated by the national carrier are: Rome, Paris, Tirana and Preveza.

On board the plane to Varna, apart from individual passengers, there were also customers of the Itaka travel agency and Biuro Podróży Nekera, for which it was the inaugural flight at the airport in Radom, Warsaw-Radom Airport reported on Tuesday in social media.

Currently, flights from the Radom airport are offered by six travel agencies. From Radom you can fly to Rome, Paris, Tirana and Preveza, Varna and Antalya. According to the announcements of Polskie Porty Lotnicze (PPL), during the high season, 38 operations a week will be performed from the airport in Radom, i.e. more than three times more than at present.

Radom airport

The ceremonial opening of the Warsaw-Radom Airport took place on April 27, 2023. On the same day, the first scheduled flight landed in Radom; it was a flight from Paris. A day later, the passengers departed for the capitals Italian and France.

Built almost from scratch, the airport has, among others, terminal with an area of ​​30 thousand. sq. m. In addition to check-in desks and security checks, the building has a large commercial area with restaurants, cafes, duty free shops, child care rooms and playgrounds.

The infrastructure of the Radom airport allows the reception of the most popular aircraft operated by charter and low-cost carriers, i.e. A320 or B737, but also larger machines – such as B787 Dreamliner.

When will the airport in Radom start earning money?

“In order for the airport to become profitable, the number of passengers checked in in one month should exceed 80,000”, i.e. about 960,000 passengers in a year – this information was provided by Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy and government plenipotentiary for the CPK, Marcin Horała, in response to a parliamentary question .

The deputy head of the MFiPR pointed out that the Warsaw-Radom airport is to start generating profits from 2028. “According to PPL SA’s financial forecasts for the Warsaw-Radom Airport, EBITDA will start to be generated from 2028” – said Marcin Horała.

According to Adrian Furgalski, “the Warsaw-Radom airport will overcome the weakest airport in Zielona Góra in years, but this is not a reason to celebrate and open champagne for over PLN 800 million.”
