“The situation was recorded by city monitoring, as a city we are fully cooperating with the police,” wrote the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, on social media, commenting on the tragic accident on Woronicza. Two women died in it, and a 3.5-year-old child was seriously injured.
“A tragic accident in Mokotów. Several people were injured and are under medical care. Unfortunately, two died. I offer my condolences to their families and loved ones. Now, of course, the key is the recovery of those injured in the accident. But it is also important to determine the causes of the incident,” wrote Rafał Trzaskowski on social media. He confirmed our reporter's earlier findings that “the situation was recorded by city monitoring.”
The mayor of Warsaw assured that the city is investing in road safety and is gradually rebuilding pedestrian crossings. “In recent years, we have completed over 500 such investments. But even the safest infrastructure may not protect against thoughtlessness on the road and road pirates,” he wrote.
Among the injured was a 3.5-year-old child.
Let's recall: the driver of a passenger car he hit a woman on a pedestrian crossingthen drove into a bus stop. As a result of the accident, the woman who was hit died at the scene, and the second woman – who was resuscitated – died in hospital. In addition, a 33-year-old, a 34-year-old and a 48-year-old were admitted to hospital with head and lower limb injuries. The 3.5-year-old child is in serious condition, with a damaged facial skeleton and legs.
The driver was unharmed. The 45-year-old who caused the accident was sober. As we have unofficially determined, his driving license was revoked about a year ago.
The police also appealed to witnesses of the accident. “Every piece of information, even seemingly insignificant, counts. Recordings from a mobile phone or a camera placed in the car can help to precisely determine the course of the incident,” the Warsaw police informed.
