The downtown prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation into the abuse of powers by the mayor of the capital, Rafał Trzaskowski. This is about the decision regarding the nationalists’ march in 2022. Then the Warsaw authorities appealed to the court the decision of the PiS voivode, who agreed to make the march organized by nationalist groups on August 1 a cyclical event. Rafał Trzaskowski commented on the investigators’ decision in “Kropka nad i”.

– In January, the prosecutor decided to start an investigation into a case that took place a year and a half ago, allegedly because I exceeded my powers. I am surprised, first of all, by this type of decision of the prosecutor’s office, because this (August 1 – editor) is really not a day that should be dominated by nationalists who spread such slogans and not others where the insurgents clearly say that it is it shouldn’t be a day for them, he said.

– After a year and a half, with the last shot on the tape, before Minister Adam Bodnar decided to deal with this partisan prosecutor’s office, this type of proceedings are being opened – he added.

– Do you think this is the beginning of Tobiasz Bocheński’s election campaign? – asked the host Monika Olejnik.

“I think that’s exactly what it was about,” he replied.

The court overturned the voivode’s decision

Let us remind you that the Independence March Rota Association requested the voivode to make the march organized on August 1 a cyclical event until 2024. On July 19, 2022, the Masovian Voivode, Konstanty Radziwiłł, agreed to it, but the Warsaw authorities decided to appeal. The district court rejected the town hall’s appeal, and the case went to the appellate court. He overturned the decision of Voivode Radziwiłł and referred the case for reconsideration. So she returned to the lower court. The district court heard the case again during a remote hearing and then agreed with the city hall’s arguments.
