On July 3, road workers will start the renovation of the “Radosława” roundabout. The work will be divided into several stages. First, the workers will take care of the island in the middle. Drivers will then have one lane less, and cyclists and pedestrians will also experience difficulties.

The “Radosława” roundabout is one of the most important intersections in Warsaw. Roads to Żoliborz, Bielany, Praga-Północ, Bemowo and Targówek lead here. There is also one of the largest shopping centers, office buildings and service premises right next to it.

“Years of intensive use meant that the condition of the road infrastructure began to deteriorate at a rapid pace. That is why we decided to carry out a major renovation” – said the Municipal Roads Authority.

There will be difficulties

In the first stage of work, the curbs of the island on the roundabout will be replaced. For this reason, on Monday, July 3, the extreme left lane, i.e. the one closest to the center, will be closed to cars. Access will also be narrow. The left lane on Aleja Jana Pawła II and on Okopowa and Słomińskiego Streets will be closed. Drivers will, however, turn off these streets on any relation – this possibility will be maintained in adjacent lanes. Drivers will drive like this for about a week and a half.

Difficulties also await cyclists and pedestrians. During the construction works, bicycle crossings will be closed and pedestrians will use the narrowed passages.

Next stages of work

In the next stage, the surface on the roundabout will be replaced. New asphalt will also be laid on the roadway of Aleja Jana Pawła II from Stawka to the roundabout. The road will be additionally reinforced with glass and carbon mesh.

Sidewalks and bicycle paths around the roundabout will also change. On the sidewalks, concrete blocks will be replaced by 50×50 cm slabs, and asphalt will appear on bicycle paths. The bus stop at Stawki Street will be renovated. The main works will be completed over the summer
