The Municipal Roads Authority is selling off bicycles from its fleet. There are 12 efficient bikes waiting for new owners, both city bikes and cargo bikes, which can carry quite a large load.
The Municipal Roads Authority’s service bicycles were used in everyday tasks of officials, such as meetings outside the office or field inspections, where – as the road workers noticed – a bicycle was a more convenient and sensible choice.
12 bikes are waiting for their owners
“Until recently, there were several dozen bicycles in ZDM – including cargo bikes, which we made available to residents as part of a free rental, electric bikes and city bikes. The bikes have served their purpose and it is time to modernize the fleet,” ZDM explained in a statement. Road workers want to sell the vehicles used so far.
There are 12 bikes waiting for their new owners, including five city bikes and seven cargo bikes. “The condition of the bikes we sell can be assessed as good or very good. Each of them is technically sound and will serve its new owner for many years to come,” the road workers assured. Starting prices for the bikes start at PLN 350 and end at PLN 3,000.
Offers can be submitted until September 24 (details on the website of the Municipal Roads Authority). Their opening will take place on September 25. The bicycles for sale can be viewed at ul. Notecka 4/6, after prior appointment by calling 572 726 910.
This is the second such tender organized by the Municipal Roads Authority. The first one was announced at the end of May.then the road workers sold 16 of the 24 bicycles on display, including all the electric bikes and several cargo bikes.
Cargo bike
A cargo bike is a vehicle whose design allows for the comfortable and safe transport of people or larger items. They have been known and popular in the West for decades, but have only recently become popular in Poland. “The development and improvement of the quality of bicycle routes is also important. Cargo acts as a litmus paper and exposes the shortcomings of roads such as high curbs, uneven surfaces, too small widths or sharp bends,” the road workers emphasized.
Cargo bikes have been introduced into the fleet of some courier companies, and are also used by smaller companies and private individuals.
“Cargos” are supposed to come back
A pilot program was also created, launched by the Representative for Bicycle Communication. It was a form of promoting cargo bikes among Warsaw residents. “Everyone could easily check what using a cargo bike looks like in practice. A dozen or so bikes were available for rent completely free of charge, even for three days. Last year, bikes could be rented at eight locations that decided to cooperate with ZDM in this area,” informed the Municipal Roads Authority.
The road workers announced that in future seasons they want to return with new equipment and a refreshed formula.
