On Thursday evening, rollerbladers will cover about 16 kilometers along the route leading through Śródmieście, Ochota and Mokotów. In turn, pedestrians will walk along the streets connecting both Praga districts. Drivers and passengers of the capital’s public transport must expect difficulties.
Rollers start at 20.30 in front of the statue of Nicolaus Copernicus in Krakowskie Przedmieście. Nightskating will pass through the streets: Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, de Gaulle roundabout, Aleje Jerozolimskie, Dmowskiego roundabout, Marszałkowska Street, Plac Konstytucji, Waryńskiego, Batory, Aleja Niepodległości, Woronicza, Żwirki i Wigury, Wawelska, aeja. Niepodległości, Chałubińskiego, Czterdziestolatka roundabout, Aleje Jerozolimskie, Dmowskiego roundabout, Marszałkowska, Świętokrzyska, Nowy Świat, Krakowskie Przedmieście.
The route is about 16 kilometers long. The organizers describe it as easy and prepared especially for the youngest participants. They encourage everyone to wear helmets and pads. Participants’ costumes will be an additional attraction. The organizers suggest that people taking part in the ride dress up as fairy-tale characters.
“The crossing will be secured by the police. There may be temporary suspensions of traffic on the route, which will also affect the running of public transport” – informed the capital city hall.
“We are all pedestrians”
Dogs will also fight for theirs. On June 1, the First Right-Bank Foot Critical Mass will take place. It will set off at 6.00 p.m. in front of the building of the Polish Post Office at Plac Wileński. The route of the march will lead through Targowa, Zamoyski and Grochowska. As the organizers emphasize, these are the most important streets connecting the two districts. Ritmo Bloco drums will be responsible for the vigor and pace of the march.
The organizer – Miasto Jest Nasz invites everyone who cares about the safety of pedestrians, the development and improvement of the quality of bicycle roads, and the marking of ground crossings to participate in the event. “This date is not accidental; in a sense, we are all children, and in a literal sense: we are all pedestrians. Let’s use this day to fight for our rights, safety and comfort, both among friends and the youngest!” the organizers said in a statement.
