Ursynów councilors adopted a resolution on naming one of the roundabouts with the name of Free Belarus. However, the final decision on this matter will be made by the Council of Warsaw.
During the Tuesday session, the Ursynów District Council adopted a resolution supporting the initiative to name the Free Belarus roundabout at the intersection of Piłsudskiego Legionów Avenue (Warsaw Southern Ring Road) with Puławska Street.
– With this roundabout, we want to give a clear and legible signal of our solidarity with Belarusians. It is a much needed place in Warsaw. The inhabitants of Ursynów, with whom I am talking, are proud that the location under consideration is in our district – Paweł Lenarczyk, Ursynów councilor told the Polish Press Agency.
He stressed that the unanimous vote of support expressed by Ursynów councilors is a building signal: – The next step is the final approval of the idea by the Council of Warsaw with the support of President Rafał Trzaskowski. I hope we can close the formalities as soon as possible.
Lenarczyk also expressed his hope that the city council would take up the matter during the next session scheduled for October 14.
