The city invites residents to spend time together by the Vistula River. In September, there will be, among others, free photo workshops with the winner of the Word Press Photo award, and recreational cruises on the Vistula River will run on a sailing yacht from Saska Beach. However, for those who will take care of the cleanliness of the Vistula beaches, the town hall has prepared a prize – a balloon flight.
– The Vistula district is a place that connects – a common space that brings together people of all ages, with different lifestyles and from all districts. This is where we meet to rest, relax, play or play sports. Throughout the summer season, the heart of Warsaw beats the most strongly on the Vistula River. In September, the Vistula district will not slow down in the offer of attractions for Warsaw residents – says Justyna Glusman, director and coordinator for sustainable development and greenery in Warsaw, quoted in the announcement.
According to the city, from the beginning of the summer season, on four Warsaw beaches – Saska, Poniatówka, Żoliborz and Rusałka / ZOO – residents and guests of the capital borrowed over 106,000 free sunbeds and as many books as part of the “Zaczytaj się nad Wisłą” campaign, and mobile services have made repair 300 bikes. “The city also organized over 250 hours of free educational workshops and animations related to, among others, ecology and sport, as well as eight relaxation concerts, six theater performances and four screenings of ecological open-air cinema” – sums up the Capital City Hall.
And announces that there will also be a lot going on at the Vistula in September. This month, among others, free photography workshops will be conducted by the winner of the Word Press Photo award and educational nature walks. On Saturdays, recreational cruises on the Vistula River will run from the Saska beach in Praga, on a sailing yacht of the Omega type. The district also invites you to tailor workshops, where you will be able to “learn to remake things creatively second-hand”.
There is a reward for cleaning the banks of the Vistula River together
The City Hall points out that the rich offer of the Vistula areas means that more and more people choose these areas to spend their free time, but it also has negative consequences: “The area of the Vistula District is littered – waste is left outside the baskets, in riparian forests or in the sand Therefore, the Vistula District, in line with the promotion of ecological habits, launched the Raise # NadWisłą campaign – 6 meetings and 6 collections during which participants of the action together clean Warsaw’s beaches and their immediate vicinity. “
The action starts on July 31. The city has provided an award for all people who will take part in at least four eco-collections – a tethered balloon flight.
The last collection is planned at Poniatówka Beach, on September 18, on the day of the international World Cleanup Day campaign. “This is the day when millions of volunteers in 180 countries around the world will have the same goal: to counter the global waste epidemic and pollute the Earth less. The necessary accessories will be waiting for participants: gloves, garbage bags and personal protective equipment” – informs the city hall.
