It was 8:30 p.m. on Monday when the bus no. 116 going towards Bielany stopped at the stop at Plac Wilsona. A city guard driving the car noticed a woman who fell while trying to get in through the middle door. She and another passenger walked over to her and helped her sit down. She also immediately realized that the woman had suffered serious injuries during the fall.

– I saw blood on my hands. When she said that her leg hurt very much, I looked and saw blood on her tights and increasing swelling – says Inspector Agnieszka OjrzyƄska from the 1st Regional Department, quoted in the release of the Warsaw Guard. She had completed a course in qualified first aid, so she quickly realized that during the fall the woman could have suffered not only an external injury, but also a bone injury.

– I asked the passenger standing next to her to approach the driver and inform about the incident. He gave me his first aid kit. I also told him to call an ambulance, the officer adds. With the help of another woman, the guard put a temporary dressing on the injured leg.

Despite difficult weather conditions and a blizzard, the ambulance arrived very quickly. Rescuers found that the tibia had probably been broken during the fall.

The 76-year-old woman was taken to hospital around 9 p.m.
