A six-year-old girl was left in the window of life on Hoża Street in Warsaw. The sisters notified the police, who determined that the girl's father was wanted.
The nuns from the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary, who run the window of life on Hoża Street, reported the child’s abandonment to the police on Thursday evening.
An ambulance was called
– Yesterday at 10 p.m. police intervened on Hoża Street in connection with a report of a child being abandoned. They were on the scene a few minutes after the report was made – confirmed on Friday in an interview with tvnwarszawa.pl junior asp. Jakub Pacyniak, spokesman for the city centre police.
He added that the child was well-groomed and in good condition. Despite this, an ambulance was called to the scene in accordance with procedures. – The medical rescue team that arrived at the scene confirmed that the girl did not require hospitalization – said Pacyniak.
Father will go to prison
However, the police's involvement in the case did not end there. – The police conducted activities to identify the child's parents. It was quickly established that the girl's father was a person wanted for the purpose of serving a prison sentence in connection with a previous conviction. The mother was identified – the policeman reported.
He assured that the girl had received appropriate help and that her fate “will most likely be decided by the family court.”
What is the window of life?
The window of life is a place where a mother can leave a newborn that she does not want to or cannot care for.
“The window of life is a suitably prepared place where you can anonymously and above all safely leave a newborn child when, for various reasons, the mother is unable to take up raising it. The task of the nuns watching over the child is to provide care for the child in the first moments after being left. The child is transferred to the hospital to provide it with medical care. Next, the little one is taken to a family emergency room, and at the same time the adoption procedure is initiated,” the Franciscan sisters explain on the website.
