A PLN 300 increase from January and a one-time compensation benefit of PLN 1,500 – such conditions were agreed by most drivers associated with trade unions – said the press spokesman of Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe. The others, who are in a collective dispute with the employer, did not agree to the proposal.
MZA spokesman Adam Stawicki announced on Thursday two meetings of the MZA board with representatives of trade unions in a collective dispute and “representative unions comprising the majority of MZA employees belonging to trade unions”, which decided to accept the raise proposal.
“This is the only possible proposition”
– Representative trade unions have signed a wage agreement with us, which determines pay rises for employees of Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe from January 1 at the level of PLN 300 gross. However, this year a one-time compensation benefit will be paid out in the amount of PLN 1,500 – Stawicki said.
He noted that so far “smaller trade unions did not agree to such a proposal and remain in a collective dispute”. – However, we hope that they will come to the conclusion that it is an offer worth accepting – said Stawicki.
As calculated by Stawicki, one third of the workforce belongs to trade unions. “75 percent of unionists are associated with the unions that signed the agreement today,” he said.
He also explained why this and no other proposal stems from. – We have rising fuel prices, which have a very strong influence on the situation of MZA. It is worth recalling here that the price of gas per kilogram has increased from two to seven zlotys. This is a huge increase that also applies to diesel. These are burdens for which we have to find an additional PLN 60 million next year – admitted Stawicki.
He stressed that the proposed increase and the one-off compensation benefit were in this situation “the only possible proposal from the city authorities”. – The management and city authorities realize that the increases are necessary due to how much inflation is racing. But they must be increases that the city can simply afford – added a spokesman for MZA.
Collective dispute at MZA
As reported on tvnwarszawa.pl there is a collective dispute in the Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe. According to drivers associated in five trade unions, in four years they received only PLN 100 pay rise. They are demanding PLN 800. They also want changes to the remuneration regulations.
Trade unions prepared a statement on Monday, in which they wrote: “Until today (November 15), the Management Board of the Company and the city authorities have not prepared any proposals for employees. Thus, a collective dispute is underway at MZA and employees are getting ready for a confrontation with the employer” – unions wrote in a letter sent to Poland Press Agency. “Such activities will certainly limit the operation of public transport” – they add.
“Our demands are related to galloping inflation and an increase in the cost of living” – explain the unionists. Another postulate is changes in the remuneration regulations. – The regulations have become a tool for earning money by the management board – said in an interview with PAP the chairman of the Polish Drivers’ Trade Union at MZA Adam Cebulski.
In the collective dispute with MZA there are: ZZ Kierowców RP at MZA, NSZZ “Solidarność” 80, OZZKiM MZA Warsaw, WZZ Sierpień 80 and WZZKRP at MZA in Warsaw.
