The City Hall has signed a contract for the expansion and equipment of the emergency department of the Czerniakowski Hospital. The works for several million zlotys are to take about 14 months. Officials ensure that they will not affect the admission of patients.
On Friday, the town hall announced the signing of a contract for the expansion and retrofitting of HED of the Czerniakowski Hospital. – Almost 30,000 people in emergencies, often with a threat to their health and life, use the help of the Emergency Department at the Czerniakowski Hospital during the year, which is why the city has allocated over PLN 13 million for a thorough expansion and reconstruction of the department – said the vice-president of the capital, Renata Kaznowska, quoted in the announcement. – Importantly, while the investment is being carried out, the SOR will continue to function and admit patients – she emphasized.
They will build two new storeys
Officials remind that the SOR of the Czerniakowski Hospital was established on the basis of the admission room in 2010. As part of the extension, an additional floor will be built on the side of Stępińska Street, and two floors with a basement will be built on the side of Górska Street. The modernization of a separate part of the hospital building on the ground floor level, including the existing SOR, is also planned. The contractor will replace, among others, floors, windows, doors and entrance gates.
The announcement also stated which functions will be performed by individual rooms after the completion of the works. “The underground floor will be used for technical and storage rooms. On the ground floor there will be SOR rooms, including registration and waiting rooms, examination rooms, observation rooms, resuscitation and treatment rooms, and initial intensive therapy rooms. The floor will be used for administrative purposes” – described .
After modernization, the total usable area of the emergency department will increase by 575 square meters.
Two ambulances will arrive at the same time
There will be a separate entrance for ambulances and a pedestrian entrance from the courtyard. “After the general renovation of the driveway, it will be possible to drive two ambulances to the building at the same time. An independent main entrance for pedestrians, adapted to the needs of disabled people, will be located on the side of Górska Street” – it was noted.
“The cost of construction and installation works together with basic medical and technical equipment will amount to over PLN 13 million” – informs the town hall. The contractor is EBS BUD Sp. z o. o. The time for the investment is 14 months from signing the contract. Its course is supervised by the Capital City Development Board.
