The stone-building erected on the Vistula has been nominated for the prestigious architectural award. Mies van der Rohe. This is the fourth Warsaw facility awarded in this edition of the competition.

The award was announced on Facebook by the Zieleni Management Board, which was responsible for the investment. “The Stone Educational Pavilion of the Green Management of the Capital City of Warsaw located on the Vistula River, built according to the design by eM4 Pracownia Architektury Brataniec, will compete for the award for the most outstanding new architectural projects in Europe” – it was written.

And it was recalled that the idea of ​​the pavilion is to “bring the richness of the Vistula nature closer to the inhabitants through its architecture and educational activities.” the boundary between architecture and nature. European Union Prize in the Contemporary Architecture Competition Miesa van der Rohe was funded by the European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation. It has been awarded every two years since 1987. Nominations are submitted by experts from Europe, national architects ‘associations affiliated to the Architects’ Council of Europe and the award advisory committee. Since the beginning of the award, the building from Poland has won only once. In 2015, the winner was the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin.

This year’s edition of the competition was postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The list of nominees for the finals will be announced in January, and the winner of the award in April next year.

In addition to the Vistula pavilion, this year’s edition of the Mies van der Rohe distinguished three other Warsaw projects: metro stations in Wola, ZODIAK – Warsaw’s architectural pavilion and the P4 office complex.

The competition has two stages. In January, the projects nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022 in the first phase were announced (facilities completed from October 2018 to October 2020), while in September the competition organizers announced projects nominated in the second phase (facilities completed between November 2020 and April 2021 year).
