One claimed that he had a grenade in his luggage, the second joked that he had two bombs in his suitcase, and the third boasted about dynamite. On Saturday alone, Border Guard officers intervened three times against passengers at Chopin Airport. All of them were withdrawn from cruises and fined.

Spokesperson of the Commander of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit, Capt. SG Dagmara Bielec said that each incident occurred every half hour, hindering the smooth flow of check-ins.

First, before departing to Nice, a 21-year-old man stated that there was a grenade in his luggage, then another passenger, a 32-year-old departing to Alicante, joked that he had two bombs in his suitcase, while a 44-year-old resident of the Wyszków district, checking in for a flight to Kos he said he had dynamite.

Border Guard officers reacted immediately and, among other things, carefully checked the luggage. The result was negative.

– During the conversation with the Border Guard officers, each of them (passengers – ed.) explained that it was a stupid joke. The carriers handling check-in for each of the three flights decided to withdraw men from the passenger list. One of them was fined, the others received summonses to appear at PSG Warszawa-Okęcie in order to continue activities regarding the incidents – said Capt. SG Bielec.
