Customs clearance at the capital Chopin airport was suspended for several dozen minutes. Reason? Explosion of one of the passengers' suitcase. The aviator's spokeswoman explains what happened.
On Thursday morning, RMF FM radio reported a luggage explosion at the capital's port. The incident occurred at night. We asked Anna Dermont, spokeswoman for Chopin Airport, about the matter.
– In the luggage of one of the passengers traveling to Vienna, a hermetically sealed container leaked, which resulted in the destruction of the suitcase and the fastening elements – the spokeswoman told us.
Firefighters intervened and no one was hurt. As Anna Dermont added, due to standard procedures in such a situation, it was necessary to temporarily suspend passenger check-ins.
– The situation returned to normal after several dozen minutes. Our priority is the safety of passengers, crew and all people working at the airport, so we ask you to carefully read the rules for transporting goods in checked baggage, she said.
