According to the findings of “Gazeta Stołeczna” that during the return from events, the victims of rape ordered taxis via the application. During the drive, suspicious drivers closed the door from the inside and moved to the rear seats.

It has not been established which application was used by the injured women. In an interview with the daily, the spokeswoman for Uber (one of the most popular applications for ordering taxis), Iwona Kruk, assured that there were no reports of “these incidents by passengers or the police”. – Uber does not hire drivers. It is a platform that connects drivers with passengers, similar to other online platforms that connect service providers with consumers. All partners using the application are independent entrepreneurs, obliged to comply with the law – Kruk emphasized in an interview with “Stołeczna”.

At the end of October, the editorial office of Konkret24 verified the truthfulness of the information appearing in social media about drivers of foreign nationalities working in trucking companies operated by applications, who allegedly kidnapped women and perpetrated rape. The online warnings indicated that this was a group of Indians. Then the police denied this information.
