“He always says he will come back” is a book by TVN24 journalist Katarzyna Zdanowicz, who talked to the wives and partners of famous Polish mountaineers. The publication tells about conquering peaks from the perspective of partners and wives who stay at home during this time and face everyday life. On the occasion of the book’s premiere, an author’s meeting was held in Warsaw on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the book by TVN24 journalist Katarzyna Zdanowicz “He always says he will come back” premiered. It is a story of nine extraordinary women – wives and partners of Polish mountaineers – and nine stories about waiting, pride, but also fears, and sometimes despair.
– There are stories about leaving, but it is absolutely not a book about mourning – said Katarzyna Zdanowicz during the author’s meeting in Warsaw. – It’s a book about living life in real life. It describes, among other things, a marriage that will have its 50th anniversary next year, but this marriage, like every relationship, has its own sine waves – she added.
When mountaineers reach new peaks, they become media heroes – they struggle at home with everyday life. – It’s not like everything is colorful. Due to the fact that it is so real, uncolored, it is authentic for me and also worth reading as a stepping stone from certain hardships, and sometimes even reflecting on important questions – she pointed out.
Katarzyna Zdanowicz emphasized during the author’s meeting that “the effort put into raising children, creating a relationship and a home deserves to be described and to fill the gap that completes the image of a hero, climber and climber”. – This book is not written in the form of interviews, but these are their stories, because I did not want to draw attention to my questions and the person, but I wanted to give them a full floor by listening. As long as they talked, I listened for as long – emphasized the journalist.
