After the fiasco of two competitions for the host of the pavilion in the Armenian square, it was decided that the building would be taken over by the Mokotów District Office. The building for which PLN 1.7 million was spent will be a library point.
The building in the Armenian square has been empty for almost half a year. Mokotów takes over the administration of a pavilion from the Green Board of the Capital City of Warsaw Warsaw, Although in February officials opted for an external tenant selected in the competition.
– After talks with the Green Board, we decided to change the formula of running the pavilion so that this place could serve the inhabitants. That is why I proposed the transfer of the Mokotów library building, which will meet the expectations of all interested parties – said Rafał Miastowski, the mayor of Mokotów, quoted in the communiqué.
To meet the expectations of seniors and social activists from Sadyba, there is also a social function in the premises. – The building will be transformed into a modern library, which, in addition to the classic book collection, would also offer free space for meetings, workshops and cultural activities – added Miastowski. The announcement did not reveal whether this transformation would be associated with additional costs.

You have to get the formalities
The district will support the library in carrying out the necessary works. – The pavilion in the Armenian square has a chance to return to become the heart of local activity – a place that connects and lives according to the rhythm of the inhabitants. Today's libraries play a role much broader than just book rentals. These are open places that perform an educational, cultural and social function – outlined the vision of the place Robert Kijek, director of the Mokotów library.
A few things are still to be regulated. – The area of the Armenian square is under strict protection of the conservator of monuments, and the building is located in the area administered by the Green Board, which also obliges us to meet certain requirements. We approach the idea very enthusiastically and with hope that after conducting the necessary formalities, we will quickly share the pavilion to the residents – added the director of the stick.

Two unsuccessful competitions
The pavilion on the Armenian square was created from the civic budget in the park, in the immediate vicinity of the Czerniak Fort. The Greenery Board of the Capital City of Warsaw was responsible for its construction and functioning. Warsaw. The investment was completed in 2022.
According to the project, it was to serve as an intergenerational meeting place. From 2023, its management was dealt with by the Bullerbyn Foundation, which organized workshops and events there. At the end of 2024, the lease agreement was completed. The Foundation terminated the contract because its original version had a record, talking about running a gastronomic establishment in the building. As it turned out, it does not meet the standards required by Sanepid. Therefore, the foundation was unable to pay for the lease.
As part of two subsequent competitions, a entity that could run this object could not be selected.
