Warsaw. The driver got stuck on the tram track

In Warsaw's Bielany, city guards prevented a collision with a tram. The driver of the passenger car got stuck on the tracks when he wanted to avoid a collision with another car.

Officers from the 5th Tracking Department on March 12, a few minutes after 22.30, patrolled the region of the Chomiczówka housing estate in Bielany. At one point they noticed an unprecedented situation: in the middle of the tram track at the intersection of Powstańców Śląskich and Maczek stood a car.

– We thought that there was an accident, so we immediately started to help – reports the guard Mariusz Sarnowski quoted in the press release. And he adds: – A man stood next to the car, and the tram on the opposite direction. I quickly turned on the emergency lights in an unlit car. Fortunately, the driver saw the threat and managed to stop the tram. The officers checked the condition of the driver who did not suffer any injuries and did not require medical assistance. We secured the scene and called the relevant services.

He wanted to avoid collision and twisted violently

The driver was very nervous. He explained how his car was on the tracks. A 33-year-old man, who lived in Łomianki, was to go down the street when another vehicle arrived in his way. As a result of this situation, wanting to avoid a collision, he turned violently and entered the track. As he said, the car got stuck on the rails and it was impossible to take it to the road.

A few minutes later, the relevant services arrived, which the guards provided the information obtained. Traffic supervision using specialized equipment removed the car from the track, and after several dozen minutes the tram traffic was resumed. Until then, city guards secured the scene.
