According to the police, the 37-year-old drove into the fence of the property near Garwolin at night. He decided to hide from the officers… in a ditch. It turned out he was drunk. A passenger traveling with him was taken to the hospital.

The incident happened on June 17 before 23, in Sobolewo. “An intoxicated resident of the Garwolin district, driving a Volvo, left the road and hit the fence of a nearby property. Knowing that the witnesses had called the police, he fled the scene on foot” – said Małgorzata Pychner from the District Police Headquarters in Garwolin in a message.

Officers who arrived at the scene first took care of the injured passenger, who was transported by ambulance to the hospital. At the same time, a second patrol began searching for the perpetrator. The use of a police sniffer dog was planned.

However, the help of the dog was not necessary. “A moment later, policemen from Łaskarzew noticed a man hiding in a ditch, whose description corresponded to the Volvo driver. The 37-year-old was arrested. He had over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body” – added Pychner.

A resident of the Garwolin district was placed in a police cell. After sobering up, he was charged with driving while intoxicated. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter. According to the officers, depending on the injuries suffered by the victim, the event may be classified as a road accident.
