One of the symbols

Characteristically, the pine tree bent over the street is one of the symbols of the Wawer district. The tree leaning over the road was previously threatened with logging due to the extension of the railway line to Otwock, but the pine was successfully defended, and the officials of the Environmental Protection Bureau began actions to make it a natural monument. On Thursday, during the session, Warsaw councilors decided to cover her with protection.

The draft resolution of the City Council on this matter was sent to the Regional Director for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in April this year. However, RDOŚ refused to agree, to which the mayor of Warsaw filed a complaint. In half of October General Director of Environmental Protection it completely repealed the previous decision of the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection and opened the way for the pine to receive the status of a nature monument.
