A historic timetable was installed at the PKP Warszawa Włochy stop, in a glass cabinet. The artifact from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s was discovered during the renovation of the railway line.

– Przystanek Warszawa Italy has gained a unique ornament – a historic timetable painted on a fragment of the wall from the old underground passage. To protect it against atmospheric factors, we have built a special glass shelter – said Anna Poczeszewska -Pawluk from the PKP PLK press team.

Railwaymen spent over PLN 700,000 on all works.

Distribution discovered during renovation

The historic timetable, painted at one of the walls of the underground passage at the Warsaw Italy stop, is 350 centimeters wide and 250 centimeters high. It was discovered during the modernization of the Warsaw Italy – Grodzisk Mazowiecki railway line. The find was cut together with a fragment of a brick wall, cleaned, drained and impregnated.

Railwaymen secured them with a glass display – it is glazed, illuminated and air -conditioned to ensure the right temperature and humidity. All works were carried out under the supervision and direction of the monument conservator.

A board from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s

From the board you can read the names of a dozen or so places to which trains from the Warsaw Włocy stop once departed, along with the hours of their running, including Pruszków, Sochaczew or Żyrardów.

The find probably comes from the turn of the 1940s and 50. The name Zielkowice, which is not existing today, turned out to be help in dating the train timetable. This station has been called Łowicz Przedmieście since 1951.

The historic timetable is not the only object reminding about the past of the railway at the Warsaw Italy stop. A modernist world hovers above the second platform, whose history is associated with the electrification of this railway route in the 1930s. The facility often called the “winged shelter” was renovated by railwaymen during the modernization of the railway line from Warsaw to Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Also, the stylized decor of the underground passage refers to the historical nature of this place.
