Warsaw. The last generation blocked the S8 route

On Friday, activists and activists of the last generation gathered in the Kaskada Park in Żoliborz in Warsaw, from where they set off on the S8 route. There they began to block the route towards Bialystok.

“Trzaskowski Stop the blockades”, “Tania turn, not highway” – among others with such banners of activists and activists gathered on the roadway of the S8 route, at the height of Marymoncka Street. They started their protest after 4pm, i.e. at the time of the afternoon peak on the capital's roads.

Drivers traffic jam and nerves

“You won't let me go, I will overestimate you,” one of the drivers said to the protest participants, which we hear on the recording of our reporter Klemens Lend. He added that one of the women drivers tried to use pepper spray for activists.

– Drivers are trying to pull the participants from the road, the police are not yet there – emphasizes the reporter tvnwarszawa.pl after 4pm. Later he added that the traffic jam is about seven kilometers. The police also arrived.

The spokeswoman for the last generation Martyna Leśniak previously announced in an interview with our editors that in the coming days further blockades would be organized. – We are waiting all the time and we are open to any reaction from the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski – she noted.

Activists explain the blockades by the fact that the capital's president ignored their demands. “The last generation gave a choice to Rafał Trzaskowski, the leader of the presidential race and the President of Warsaw: either the ahead of the postulates fighting with transport exclusion and will organize a meeting with the prime minister, or in his city there will be protests in the fire of the presidential campaign. He had time for this until May 4. Rafał Trzaskowski chose protests. Therefore, today dozens of people from all over Poland are marching through the bridges in the center of Warsaw” – It was stated in a Monday statement.

The last generation from the beginning has two main demands: the transfer of funds planned for the expansion of highways and expressways for regional and local public transport, creating a monthly ticket for PLN 50 for regional and local transport.
