The Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, donated a historic loudspeaker from the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Science to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The auction during which you can bid on this unique item will last until January 29.
As the capital city hall explains in a statement, the loudspeaker from the Congress Hall in the Palace of Culture and Science has been used for years during the largest and most important cultural events. “It is not only a monument from the hall that is currently being renovated, but a real work of engineering art, produced by the renowned audio company Goodmans of England,” says the town hall.
“It was thanks to such loudspeakers that the stars performing at the Congressional Theater sounded so good that many remember these concerts to this day. And over the course of several decades, Marlena Ditrich, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Elton John have performed there,” the office enumerates.
The online auction for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will last until January 29, 2024. The auction winner will have the opportunity to collect the loudspeaker in person from President Rafał Trzaskowski at the Palace of Culture and Science.
This year @Warsaw plays with the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity extremely loudly – because it uses a unique loudspeaker from the Congress Hall, which I put up for auction as part of #32 Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Please bid and support the Orchestra in any other way you can. Hiya! ❤️

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity finale in a new place
The 32nd Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will be held on January 28, 2024, under the slogan “Lungs after the pandemic. We play for children and adults!”. It is accompanied by the motto: “Everything is OK here!”.
This year’s Final will take place in a new place. As the head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation, Jurek Owsiak, said, it will be organized not in the center of Warsaw, because the ongoing reconstruction of Defilad Square makes it impossible, but on the grounds of the National Stadium. This is where the television studio and large stage will be located.
