“It is an act of solidarity with people who have been trapped for weeks or months in a death trap between Poland and Belarus” – the organizers explained the idea of Saturday’s March for Concern for the Cheated. On Saturday, they walked through the center of Warsaw with silver and gold foil symbolizing help for those in need.

The participants of the protest gathered at 2 p.m. at Unii Lubelskiej Square, from where they left Marszałkowska Street through Zbawiciela and Konstytucji Square. They plan to finish the march before the Dmowski roundabout.

Participants have silver and gold NRC foils (used by rescuers to help people who are cold) and international refugee flags. They also prepared banners with the following slogans: “Welcome refugees. NOT for racism”, “Enough cruelty, accept refugees”, “Humanitarian bridge NOW”, “I will accept refugees, I will return the racists”.

“We demand that they be allowed to file applications for international protection”

The organizers previously explained that their goal is “to express concern for people who are deceived, desperate and helpless”.

“It is an act of solidarity with people who have been trapped for weeks or months in a death trap between Poland and Belarus, with the tacit acceptance of other European countries. People who, as a result of manipulation and fraud by the Belarusian regime, came to Minsk, risking their entire lives and achievements, and now – brutally beaten, forced by the services, hungry and chilled – they hide in the forests on the border. We want to express our opposition to the violence against people who are begging for our help. The inhabitants of the border zone are also in a difficult situation, forced to heroism and witnessing to human dramas – we remember about them “- they wrote in the description of the event on social media.

As they added, they are united “in a firm demand to protect the fundamental rights of migrants – including the right to life and freedom from torture.” “We demand that they be allowed to submit applications for international protection, and then in accordance with the procedures for examining individual cases individually with respect and civilized, humane treatment. We demand absolute respect for the dignity of each of these people” – they postulated.

On Saturday in Hajnówka, at the same time, there was a protest “Mother on the border”.
