There will be difficulties in running regional and agglomeration trains. PKP PLK announced that from 11 to 21 April it will close one of the two tracks of the suburban cross-city line, which will result in changes in the timetable.

From April 11, the contractor for the modernization of the Warszawa Zachodnia station will carry out works on the construction of a retaining wall at the height of the cross-city line. Carrying out these works is necessary to create a new connection between the tracks of the suburban line and the long-distance line.

– The work will consist in pulling out the diaphragm walls, which were previously killed, for the construction of the retaining wall – said Marcin Kowalczyk, project director of the reconstruction of the Warszawa Zachodnia station during the Monday press briefing. – The crane that will pull them out will work on the catenary – he added.

The works require the closure of the track on the suburban line on the section from Warszawa Zachodnia to the Warszawa Stadion station, and this will mean that a significant part of trains will run on a shortened route. As part of the new traffic organization, there will be only three trains per hour in the east direction and three trains in the west direction, or vice versa. – In addition, the organization assumes that from the west, some trains will end at the Warszawa Zachodnia station or at Warszawa Główna. Single trains will go to the station Warsaw Gdansk – announced Krzysztof Bus, project director for the timetable.

– Single trains from the east will end at Warszawa Wschodnia station. Selected trains from line no. 2 from the direction of Siedlce will go to Warsaw Central. On the other hand, from the line number 7 from the Otwock side, they will get to the Warszawa Stadion stop, from where you can easily change to the subway – added Bus. He also indicated that the works planned for April are a continuation of those carried out in December.

At that time, the suburban cross-city line had a shuttle service for three weeks. There were four trains in each direction per hour (one SKM train and three KM trains). The trains ran every 3-4 minutes for 10 minutes, followed by about a 50-minute break. Already on the first day after the introduction of the changed traffic organization, passengers complained about delayed trains.

PKP PLK representatives appeal to travelers to check the train timetable. They emphasize that detailed information on changes in the timetable is available on the portalpasazera.pl website and application, as well as on the carriers’ websites.

Last week Koleje Mazowieckie also informed about changes in the timetable from 11 to 21 April.
