The policemen from Ochota took the man out of the burning apartment. They found him unconscious on the bathroom floor and, after taking him to a safe place, gave him first aid. The victim was taken to hospital. Paramedics also looked after the officers as they both had breathing problems.
The fire broke out last weekend at Nowogrodzka Street. After 11 p.m. the policemen heard the radio message on this matter and went to the indicated address. – They arrived before the rest of the services. In front of the block, they found a resident who indicated the premises where the fire broke out. In the staircase, the police met the host of the building, who provided information about a man in a burning apartment – reports Sub-commissioner Karol Cebula from the Warsaw III District Police Headquarters in Ochota.
As he emphasizes, the officers entered the apartment without thinking for a moment, despite the fact that there was a thick smoke and flames from inside. There was a burned man on the floor in the bathroom, who was not moving. Together, the uniforms took the 68-year-old to the block, where they gave him first aid – he adds.
The policemen needed medical help
Soon the firefighters arrived and put out the fire. The injured person was taken care of by paramedics. The decision was made to take him to the hospital.
– The policemen were also given help because, by risking their own lives, they had a problem with breathing – notes Cebula. – Both of them showed remarkable courage and professional action. Their heroic attitude, thanks to which they saved human life, deserves a special distinction – he points out.
