Warsaw. The prosecutor's office initiated an investigation into the advertising of supplements by Doda

The downtown prosecutor's office is investigating dietary supplements advertised by the singer Dorota Rabczewska – Doda. The artist convinced her fans that thanks to her diet and supplementation she held a chronic autoimmune disease.

Information on the initiation of investigation by the District Prosecutor's Office Warsaw Śródmieście-Północ was provided on Wednesday by a spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba. It is the result of a notification submitted by the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector.

As explained by prosecutor Skiba, it applies to assignment in the period from May 7, 2025 to June 3, 2025 by the artist on the social networking site of the properties of medicinal products placed on the market, despite the fact that these products do not meet the requirements set out in the Act.

He added that the District Police Headquarters in Śródmieście was commissioned to collect materials in the investigation. It is, among others, to ask the President of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products, or GIS for information.

– Only after obtaining them will it be possible to decide who and to what circumstances to interrogate – emphasized Skiba.

Controversial advertisement

In May, the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector notified law enforcement agencies regarding the advertisement of one of the supplements. About controversies around dietary supplements promoted by Doda We wrote earlier on tvn24.pl. The singer in the film published on Instagram argues that she has cured Hashimoto's disease without using drugs, but only diet and appropriate supplementation.

“I was diagnosed with Hashimoto. I did not take a single drug. I decided to cure myself only using the unconventional method, and actually the only effective in my opinion, i.e. a very healthy diet and supplements,” Rabczewska said in the recording. A photo of one of the dietary supplements available on the market appears in the video.

Producer's statement of the supplement

The producer of the supplement signed by the singer – the company Unipro Spółka z oo, which is the owner of the Activlab brand – in the PAP sent a statement declared cooperation with state bodies. The company's management also emphasized that, according to applicable regulations, dietary supplements are food for supplementing a normal diet and cannot be attributed to them with medicinal properties and do not replace drugs.

“Neither Unipro sp. Z oo nor the ACTIVLAB brand formulate such messages in marketing communication. All advertising materials are created in accordance with the regulations regarding marking, presentation and advertising of dietary supplements” – it was reported.

The case was outraged in the environment of medical experts.

– Hashimoto's hypothyroidism requires treatment with levotyroxine (L-thyroxine). It is not possible to cure anything other than just this drug that is issued on prescription. This is (the activity of celebrities, related to the distract of patients from conventional treatment – editor's note) a very unfavorable process and lack of responsibility for what is being said – indicated in an interview with tvn24.pl, Dr. Luiza Napiórkowska, endocrinologist, diabetologist and author of the medical blog.

Hashimoto is a disease from the group of autoimmune thyroiditis (AZT). It leads to its gradual destruction, and as a result of reducing the production of the right hormones for it. Hypothyroidism develops in its course.
