At Markowska Street, a historic tenement house from the 20th century is recreated. Construction will last until the end of June, then the facility will be equipped.

The reconstruction of the historic tenement house on the corner of Markowska and Ząbkowska streets is coming to an end. The building has seven floors – one underground and six overground.

The Warsaw Social Innovation Laboratory “Synergia” will operate in the building with an area of ​​2,400 square meters. On the ground floor there will be, among others: a clubhouse, a social repair workshop and two commercial premises for craft services. The first floor is intended for a Local Activity Area, a meeting space for families with children, as well as digital support and counseling points. There will also be a community eatery.

The second floor will be occupied by a day support facility for children and youth. On the next floor, a conference room and a sports hall with cloakrooms are being built. And the fourth floor will be occupied by the scientific FabLab The skull is smoking! and scouting. The fifth floor is a space for non-governmental organizations.

Construction will last until the end of June

Finishing works are underway inside the tenement house: flooring and painting the walls. The assembly of the necessary installations is also underway: electrical, teletechnical and sanitary. The building is equipped with three passenger lifts and one freight lift.

As reported by the city hall, facade works have been completed on the outside and balustrades have been installed on the balconies. Work is underway on the inner courtyard, where, among others, new pavements, a playground for children and a ramp for people with disabilities. Grass will soon be sown and benches and bicycle racks will be set up.

The construction will last until the end of June 2023, and then the building will be equipped with the necessary equipment.

The tenement house was erected in the 20th century

The tenement house at 16 Markowska Street was erected in the 1920s. In 2019, the building was demolished due to its poor technical condition and its reconstruction in its historical shape began.

Original demolition brick was used to make some of the interior walls. In 2020, the first stage of the investment was completed, consisting of i.a. on the execution of the reinforced concrete structure, stairs, elevator shafts and the roofing of the building.

In October 2021, the Capital City Development Board signed a contract for the implementation of the second stage of the investment, which will allow for the completion of the remaining works related to the reconstruction of the tenement house and adapting it to the needs of future users.
