On Sunday, a thanksgiving procession with the relics of the blessed passed through the streets of Warsaw. The faithful set out in the morning from the Warsaw Archcathedral of St. st. John the Baptist in the Old Town to the Temple of Divine Providence in Wilanów. The central point of the celebration of the 15th Thanksgiving Day is the Holy Mass with the participation of members of the Polish Episcopate.

The central celebration of the 15th Thanksgiving Day began with a thanksgiving procession with the relics of the blessed, which set off in the morning from the Warsaw Cathedral at Świętojańska Street. The pilgrims were blessed by Bishop Piotr Jarecki. He asked the blessed to intercede for God, for the nation, to live “in mutual love, respect and devotion to one God”. – May Blessed Elizabeth, who accepted the loss of sight as her cross and saw in it the calling to serve God in the blind in body and soul, intercede for us on pilgrims on this earth – said Bishop Jarecki.

At the head of the precession there was a cross, behind it banners, consecrated persons, an orchestra and people carrying the cross. According to the program, the procession at 8.25 passed by the church of St. Alexander, heading towards the Belweder Palace. Then around 10.45 she arrived at the area of the Church of St. Antoni M. Zaccaria, where a solemn procession was formed with the participation of the Polish Episcopate, chapters and invited guests.

The procession route led along the following streets: Świętojańska, Plac Zamkowy, Krakowskie Przedmieście, de Gaulle’a roundabout, Nowy Świat, Plac Trzech Krzyży, Aleje Ujazdowskie, Belwederska, Jana III Sobieskiego, aleja Rzeczypospolitej, and Hlonda. Thanksgiving for the beatification of the two blessed

The slogan of this year’s Thanksgiving Day are the words “Thank you for the blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and Mother Elżbieta Róża Czacka”. It is also a nationwide thanksgiving for the beatification of both blesseds.

The central point of the celebration is a solemn mass in the Temple of Divine Providence at 12.00, chaired by the Metropolitan of Warsaw, Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz. The homily was prepared by Bishop Jan Kopiec.

In a letter on the occasion of the 15th Thanksgiving Day, Cardinal Nycz noted that “to love means to discover Christ in other people, to break with sin, to transgress the tight attachment to the goods of this world, to think patterns, to uncritically accept poisoned ideas”. – This is what Blessed Cardinal Wyszyński and Blessed Mother Czacek teach us – pointed out the Metropolitan of Warsaw.

After Saint Augustine, he wrote that “in secondary matters – freedom, in essential matters – unity, in everything – love.”

According to tradition, after the liturgy, a number of attractions for children and parents are planned.

On June 5, there is also a nationwide collection of cans in the country for the construction of the Temple of Divine Providence.

Church Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day was established in 2008 by Archbishop Kazimierz Nycz. It is a continuation of the initiative undertaken by the Four-Year Seym, which decided to offer God a special votive gift in thanks for the possibility of passing the Constitution of May 3. It was supposed to be the creation of the Temple of Supreme Providence. The plan could not be implemented due to the partitions.

Work on the construction of the temple was started in 1918, after Poland regained independence. They were interrupted by World War II and the times of the Polish People’s Republic. The primate of Poland, Cardinal Józef Glemp, returned to the implementation of the idea.
