Councilors approved three new local plans on Thursday. According to them, a linear park and a new section of the southern roadway of Aleje Jerozolimskie will be built on Plac Zawiszy. Modernization of the building for the needs of public services is planned in Rakowiec, and new greenery is planned in Park Kaskada.

At the Thursday session, the city councilors of Warsaw adopted a total of three local spatial development plans: for the Kaskada Park area – part A in Marymont; the area of Plac Zawiszy in Ochota and for the land plot in Rakowiec.

I am glad that we are starting the new year with three adopted local plans. Everyone knows Zawiszy Square and the complicated road system, which is like a Gordian knot. This place needs a change. The new plan of the area of Plac Zawiszy will enable a sensible redevelopment of streets and better land development. Other plans are also very important – says Marlena Happach, director of the Office of Architecture and Spatial Planning in Warsaw.

Most investment decisions in Warsaw are made by officials on the basis of local plans. – The detailed arrangements contained in them ensure a more balanced and harmonious development of the city. Thanks to detailed development plans, residents know where a school or park is to be built, how roads will be extended or rebuilt.

Green space with a linear park at Zawiszy Square

The plan of the Plac Zawiszy area concerns the key area of Ochota. The square closes the city center and is a symbolic gate. Behind it, Grójecka Street leads to the heart of the district with Narutowicza Square.

The plan adopted by the councilors specifies how to supplement and improve the entire communication system in this area. A new section of the southern roadway of Aleje Jerozolimskie is to be built here. The final course of Grójecka Street will change. After the “bend” it will connect with the new roadway of Aleje Jerozolimskie. As indicated by the city hall, this will free up about one hectare of land, which is now occupied by asphalt and concrete. A green space with a linear park will be created.

The plan allows for the location of a tall building in the area of Plac Zawiszy, not exceeding 130 meters. – It has a compositional justification. It will accentuate the viewing axes at the intersection of important streets in the district and Warsaw.

Public services in Rakowiec

On the other hand, the plan for the record plot no. 15/2 from precinct 2-03-09, located between Siemieńskiego and Walentego Skorochód-Majewskiego streets, concerns the area that belongs to the city and has an area of 0.4 hectares. Public services are provided there. The district plans to modernize the building at Skorochód-Majewskiego Street into a Registry Office and a Social Welfare Centre.

Modernization of greenery in Park Kaskada

The plan for the Kaskada Park in Marymont covers about 13 hectares between Słowackiego, Gdańska and Armii Krajowej streets – with the Kaskada Park, one of the oldest in Warsaw, dating back to the 17th century.

The plan introduces provisions that will enable the modernization of valuable green areas and ensure better protection of the Warsaw Escarpment. The document also defines what the new buildings of the Environmental Acoustics Department at the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute at 4 Kolektorska Street may be.
