Student dormitory no. 7 “Sulimy”, located in Służewo. It can accommodate 380 students. They have 130 single and double rooms at their disposal. The first residents will soon begin to be accommodated.

– This is the only student residence built from scratch, which will be built as part of the UW Multiannual Program. In addition, the Multiannual Program includes two modernizations of the student residence hall. The building at Sulimy Street is the first newly built student residence hall of the University of Warsaw in several decades – emphasized during Tuesday's ceremony the Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw for Development, Prof. Ewa Krogulec, quoted in the university's press release.

She added that the building design included modern pro-ecological and energy-saving solutions, such as a ventilation heat pump, heat recovery from exhaust air and photovoltaic modules.

– I would like to congratulate the entire University of Warsaw community on this investment. I know how much effort and work it took to implement it. As the Minister of Science, I assure you that we will run a social support program, including subsidies for renovations and construction of student residences in Poland – said Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek.

The Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Alojzy Nowak, pointed out that the investment was made in cooperation with students and doctoral students. – The University is constantly carrying out modernization works, thanks to which we are constantly increasing the number of available places in the dormitories – he emphasized.

Rooms and segments

The construction of the dormitory lasted from December 2021. The total cost of the investment was PLN 94.9 million.

As reported by the UW press office, the rooms in the dormitory are single or combined into segments, consisting of two or four rooms. The four-room segments are equipped with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Dormitory residents also have access to numerous common rooms, such as an exercise room, a common room, a kitchen with a dining room, a laundry room with a drying room, work and quiet study rooms.

There is a sports ground, a bicycle room and park alleys by the building. There is also an underground car park.

The new dormitory is designed on a four-arm plan resembling a windmill. It has eight floors – seven above ground and one underground. The total area of ​​the building is almost 13 thousand square meters, and the usable area is almost 6 thousand square meters.

Disabled friendly

The building and its immediate surroundings are fully accessible to people with mobility, hearing and vision disabilities. On each floor there is at least one room with a kitchenette adapted to the needs of people moving in wheelchairs. Moving around the building is also made easier by public lifts.

Permeable surfaces have been used around the building to facilitate the proper circulation of rainwater.

In total, there are over 2.3 thousand places available in the UW student dormitories. As stated in the university's announcement, in the Student Dormitory No. 7 “Sulimy” in the academic year 2024/2025, prices range from PLN 950 to PLN 1,100 per person per month, depending on the room.
