Officials ordered to suspend hotel activities in the building at Aleje Jerozolimskie 65/79, where Marriott and Presidential operated for years. The reason is shortcomings related to fire protection in staircases. The owner of the building claims that the decision was issued with a “gross violation of the law.” The hotel still accepts guests.
Administrative proceedings in this matter were conducted by the Marshal's Office of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. – On January 27, 2025, a decision was issued ordering to suspend the provision of hotel services in the facility under the name Warsaw Presidental Hotel, located in Warsaw at Aleje Jerozolimskie 65/79 until the removal of the deficiencies found – informs Marta Milewska, spokeswoman for the UMWM press.
The reason for the decision is reservations related to fire protection. The case has been going on since 2016. A month before visiting Poland, the then President of the United States Barack Obama, firefighters inspected the building. It was then stated that the facility did not meet the requirements and by the decision of the City Commander of the State Fire Service of the Capital City of Warsaw was qualified to the category of people's danger. Firefighters at that time had reservations about the protection against fire vestibules with two staircases. They recommended the implementation of technical and construction solutions that will eliminate this problem.
A spokeswoman for the Marshal's Office explains that the deadline for implementing the fire brigade recommendations was finally on December 31, 2021. He adds that the office in June 2024 carried out a hotel inspection, which revealed that they were still not carried out and the hotel still did not obtain a positive opinion of the PSP commander.
Officials are waiting for a positive opinion of firefighters
The situation changed in mid -November, when the gestor of the facility provided officials with a positive opinion of the fire brigade. However, it was conditional. This means that it found the fulfillment of fire requirements provided that the previously mentioned technical and construction solutions are used.
According to officials, this is not sufficient to consider the object consistent with fire protection standards. – It should be emphasized that the presented opinions or protocols must be positive for the party, i.e. do not contain any comments and do not impose any obligations with the date of their implementation. The need to have an opinion cannot be replaced, for example, with an expert opinion or other documents such as protocols from other inspections – explains Milewska.
– The building manager must remove deficiencies that violate fire regulations and deliver to the Marshal's Office of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship in Warsaw a positive opinion of the Municipal Commander of the State Fire Service – he states.

The company's representatives question the decision of the office
According to the owner of the building, Lim Center, the November opinion of the fire brigade is positive, and the facility operates in an undisturbed manner, in accordance with the law and meets security requirements. Representatives of the owner of the complex at Aleje Jerozolimskie were given to such information to the portal Propertynews.pl.
“For years, we have been consistently implementing solutions ensuring the highest standard of fire safety, as evidenced by numerous certifications of relevant institutions. In particular, our facility is equipped with modern fire systems, including a 24 -hour fire hazard detection system,” says the company in the cited statement.
The manager does not agree with the position of officials. “The decision of the Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship was issued in gross violation of the law and will be repealed in the appropriate mode,” says Lim Center.
We asked Lim Center by e -mail to refer to this matter. We are waiting for an answer.
The decision of the Marshal's Office has no immediate enforcement clause. Its addressee has 14 days to refer to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The spokeswoman we asked about what will happen if the manager of the object does not adapt to its content. – Chaeting authorities will be notified – says Milewska.
The hotel hosted presidents and pop culture stars
The LIM skyscraper opened in 1989 at Aleje Jerozolimskie 65/79 is one of the most recognizable buildings and symbols of Warsaw. Hotel Marriott International has been operating since the end of 12 years of construction.
Lim Center, as the building is officially called by Warsaw residents, always called “Marriott” was designed by Tadeusz Stefański, Jerzy Skrzypczak and Andrzej Bielobradek. Its construction lasted from 1977 to 1989. The building is 140 meters high without the antenna on the roof. Has 42 floors. The Marriott Hotel with 520 rooms has been operating from the 20th floor and up. Below were, among others LOT Polish Airlines offices. This was also the source of the company's name: Lot and Marriott.
For 35 years, many guests from the world of politics stopped in the hotel, including The presidents of the United States visiting Poland, as well as music stars: Michael Jackson, Luciano Pavarotti, and at the beginning of August 2024 POP singer Taylor Swift.
Last year, we informed that the five -star hotel has no right to use the popular American brand. The network withdrew from its lead. The official reasons for breaking cooperation between Marriott International and the administrator of the building Lim Center were not given. Industry portals, however, reported that there were legal disputes between the parties, regarding, among others, pandemic settlements.
