Drought in Poland. Record low water levels in the Vistula
In most Polish rivers the water level is low. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued 47 hydrological warnings for drought. The alert is in force in the Mazowieckie province and Warsaw, among others.
Forecasters predict that a colder front will pass through Poland from Monday. – These will end heatwave and a little more falls rainespecially in the south of the country – said IMGW hydrologist Jan Szymankiewicz in an interview with the Radio Information Agency. He noted that it takes several days for the rainwater to flow into the country and replenish the deficiencies. Longer rainfalls are also necessary. The IMGW forecaster added that the problem of hydrological drought has been present in Poland continuously since 2015.
