Warsaw. There are funds to develop project documentation for the expansion of the sequence of Szamocin-Wałuszewska streets

Pedestrians to school or work must go on the side of the road. There are no pavements at Szamocin Street. Residents have been fighting for them for years, and finally a breakthrough. There is money, although for now only to develop project documentation for the expansion of this road. This is the first step.

The inhabitants of Szamocin have been waiting for the modernization of one of the longest roads for years. The street with the same name stretches from Płochocińska to Ornecka. There, it turns into Wałuszewska and leads to the center of Białołęka. Unfortunately, her condition leaves much to be desired. It is narrow and there are no pavements. The roadside is dangerous, and in some places it is not at all because of the proximity of a roadside ditch. Additionally, when the rain drops, the soft substrate turns into the mud. There is also no lighting.

Moving along Szamocin Street is difficult, but this is the shortest route of children to school, and for adults to the PKP station and shops.

Money to develop project documentation

A light appeared in the tunnel in this matter. Design documentation of the reconstruction of Szamocin and Wałuszewska Street from Płochocińska to Żyrardowska will be created. It's almost 2.5 kilometers.

– There was a large battle. The inhabitants tried hard, and also organized action with banners and protests. There were also a lot of meetings – tells us Filip Pelc, councilor of Białołęka, and the Greens party.

It is, among others about meetings in November 2023, during which residents talked to the Municipal Road Administration on the construction of a pavement on Szamocin and Wałuszewska Street. Unfortunately, they didn't do much at the time. They waited for information from the office regarding the application for money for investments in the town hall. When the decisions of offices did not come from the inhabitants of Szamocin and Wałuszewska, they began the protest and hung banners on their property.

Now the situation has changed. – It finally succeeded. City councilors found funds for this purpose. So also words of appreciation for them. The city councilor Anna Auksel -Sekutowicz was also involved in obtaining money on the pavement at Szmaocin Street – tells us Filip Pelc, councilor of Białołęka, and the Green Party.

Money for the project was awarded by councilors at the March session of the Warsaw City Council. – We have money secured in a long -term financial forecast – says Anna Auksel -Sekutowicz. They went to the capital's management board of the city's expansion, which will deal with this investment.

“We are to prepare for this task”

The long -term financial forecast has the tasks of municipal units. This is a document that is adopted by the City Council of Warsaw.

– We do not choose tasks to be implemented, but we carry out what is adopted in the long -term financial forecast. The investments are exactly defined there and have a budget assigned to be implemented. Based on this, with financial resources at our disposal, we can start specific activities – explains Agata Choińska -Ostrowska, spokeswoman for the capital's Municipal Development Board.

Residents demand a pavement at Wałuszewska and Szamocin

One such task is the expansion of Szamocin and Wałuszewska streets. – funds in the amount of PLN 1.5 million were allocated to developing project documentation for the expansion of the sequence of Szamocin-Wałuszewska streets, on the section from Płochocińska to Żyrardowska- Choińska-Ostrowska. He adds that the details are not yet known. – We are to prepare for this task. We are waiting for guidelines from various urban units to be able to say in which direction this project will develop – he emphasizes.

Hopes and fears of residents

The inhabitants do not hide joy. – It's a great success. We are glad that it finally succeeded that the funds were entered in the long -term financial forecast. In the matter of modernization of this street, we have long been sold and we only heard that it was impossible. It turned out that it was possible – says Patrycja, a resident of Szamocin.

In her opinion, numerous meetings decided about the granting of funds. – Thanks to them this case was noticed. As residents, we kept asking about this investment, we pulled this topic so that it would not remain unanswered – emphasizes the resident.

And he adds that the investment is needed, because the area is expanding and as a result, local traffic increases. – It is very nice that Wałuszewska Street was also taken into account. This is very important, because both her and Szamocin street move children to school on the other side of the forest – adds Mrs. Patrycja.

However, residents have some concerns. – Granting funds to develop a project is just the beginning of the road. We do not expect the investment to be started within three years. We can only expect a project. We hope that this case will be treated priority and will not be stretched again for years – emphasizes the resident.

In both directions, bicycle path and greenery?

The scope of the investment is to cover the development of the road lane divided into zones for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, as well as areas of planting of greenery. – A new roadway, pavements on both sides, dehydration, lighting and bicycle path are to be designed. I hope it will remain in this shape. But it is at the design stage to turn out – Pelc councilor Białołęcki considers.

Warsaw councilor Anna Auksel-Sekutowicz has similar feelings. – I like the range, it will allow comprehensive expansion. This is deeper reflection and comprehensive action. Giving up the approach to make it the cheapest, only a decent preparation of the investment – he says. However, it does not exclude complications. – There will be some obstacles. There are poles with buildings in Szamocin, poles, in the forest with the future pavement, they can interfere with trees. It will not be an easy investment – he states.

– I hope that at the design stage a solution will be found that will allow you to quickly create a bicycle path and bilateral pavements – adds councilman Pelc.

Wałuszewska and Szamocin streets in Białołęka

The councilor is glad that the funds for the development of project documentation have been granted. – This is one of the most dangerous streets of Białołęki, due to the fact that there is no pavement there, and many people go to school and work that way. Sidewalks will be something that will improve the safety of residents. I am glad that money was found for it – says Pelc.

The Warsaw councilor does not hide enthusiasm. – It is always the hardest to start. The granting of funds to develop project documentation was the most important element. Thanks to it, we will know what purchase of plots will be needed, whether you can bypass potential obstacles and what funds should be followed. Just keep your fingers crossed so that there is money for the next stage – emphasizes Auxel -Sekutowicz.

Reconstruction of the intersection closer

There is another separate investment in Szamocin. This is a reconstruction of the intersection of Płochocińska Street with Szamocin Street. It is located at a more advanced stage. The construction design is ready.

– We are currently in the process of preparing executive projects that will allow, among others, to estimate the costs of investment and its final shape. Finally, we will be able to announce a tender and look for a contractor – says Maciej Dziubiński, spokesman for ZDM.
