The Masovian Voivodeship signed two decisions enabling the commencement of construction of new Warsaw metro stations on the M1 line. Approved projects of the capital city Warsaw includes the construction of two stations: Plac Konstytucji and Muranów – the office announced in a statement on Friday.

“The permits were issued on December 19 this year. They concern: the construction of the A12 (Plac Konstytucji) and A16 (Muranów) stations, route ventilation rooms and accompanying infrastructure, along with the demolition of the existing tunnel along the length of the designed facilities. The investor is the capital city of Warsaw,” we read in the release published on the website of the voivodeship office.

Decisions are immediately enforceable.

Two new metro stations. Planned location

The A12 Plac Konstytucji metro station is planned under Marszałkowska Street, between the intersections with Wilcza and Koszykowa streets. “It will allow servicing not only the surrounding residential areas of Marszałkowska and MDM, but also numerous cultural, educational, service and commercial areas in this part of the city, thus influencing the development and the possibility of full use of the potential of the southern part of Śródmieście” – it is written on the website capital metro.

The zone of quick access to the metro will include a large area located between Mokotowska Street and Emilii Plater Street.

The A16 Muranów metro station is planned under Andersa Street, north of the intersection with Anielewicza Street. Its presence will improve the accessibility of the area between Inflancka and Nowolipki streets and between Karmelicka and Nowe Miasto streets. “This station will provide services to local residents, people studying and working in this area, as well as people willing to take advantage of the numerous attractions of this part of Warsaw (park, sports and historical areas),” wrote Metro Warszawskie.

Both stations are planned to be built on existing sections of metro tunnels. The designs assume locating exits on both sides of Marszałkowska and Andersa streets – 4 exits from each station. Additionally, to increase accessibility, the station will be accessible via elevators.
