This act is punishable by a fine of up to 240 rates, a penalty of restriction of liberty or a penalty of imprisonment from six months to eight years – Aleksandra Skrzyniarz, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, told us. She added that there are ongoing activities in the case.
The police interrupted Mata’s concert
Let us recall: Mata performed on a barge sailing on the Vistula on Monday, May 23. Up to several thousand people came to the event, several of which jumped into the river, wanting to swim to the barge on which the rapper sang. At one point a police motor boat approached the barge and the policemen ended the event.
The Warsaw Police Headquarters later referred to the case. – The law is clearly defined which events can be organized and under what conditions. We understand fun, but safety is the most important thing for us, said Sylwester Marczak, KSP spokesman.
The rapper met with the president of Warsaw
At the end of May The Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, met with Mata. They talked about “combining fun with safety.” After the meeting, Trzaskowski said that the city wanted “the space on the Vistula River to be an open space and that concerts of this type could be held”. However, he stressed that it was primarily about safety. – That is why we are talking about the fact that possible performances of our artists can be held in such a way that they can guarantee safety. This is the most important thing for us – he emphasized.
Mata, or Michał Matczak, is one of the most popular Polish rappers. During the last edition of the industry Popkillers, he received seven awards.
