Police officers from Śródmieście detained two men suspected of robbing unmanned stores. – The perpetrators, using simple tools or opportunities, entered stores and took out everything that could be easily sold later, the police say.
– The suspects opened the door with a penknife or other easy-to-use tools or entered the store “on the backs” of their customers. This is how the perpetrators of many burglaries and thefts from 24-hour, unattended stores in the center of Warsaw operated mainly at night. The thieves took everything from the shelves that could be easily sold later, and then shared the profits from the “heist”, says Robert Szumiata, spokesman for the downtown police.
Surveillance recordings helped
Police officers from Śródmieście detained two men suspected of these crimes. They also recovered some of the stolen products. – Camera recordings turned out to be very useful in tracking down the thieves, and will now constitute evidence in the case – said Szumiata.
At the request of the Warsaw Śródmieście Północ District Prosecutor’s Office, the court has already decided to temporarily arrest the 42-year-old for three months. His 37-year-old companion was placed under police supervision. Both detainees face up to 10 years in prison.
