The police busted a criminal group that was defrauding German seniors. According to investigators, the perpetrators pretended to be police officers and prosecutors and extorted money and valuables from elderly people. A total of six people were detained. All of them were placed in temporary custody.
“During the operation, the police simultaneously entered two apartments in Warsaw, where they arrested six people red-handed. In one of the apartments, the officers found three women aged 18 to 56 who, when the police entered, were calling potential victims. In the other, premises, which in this case was a hotel room, the police found three men, aged 32, 35 and 42, posing as prosecutors during telephone conversations,” reports the capital. Police.

“Policewomen” and “prosecutors”
Both groups acted together and in concert. “The police found that in one location, women were calling the victims and crying, and then continued the conversation as policewomen. Then, the conversation was taken over by men in the second location, who pretended to be prosecutors and also gave directions to the receivers,” the police explain.
During the search of both premises, 20 mobile phones equipped with English SIM cards, which were used by the detainees to contact the injured parties, six laptops with loaded telephone books with the data of German citizens, two tablets and over PLN 11,000, EUR 240 and two valuable watches, each valued at an amount of not less than PLN 40,000.
According to the police, the perpetrators used special routers connected to computers to mask their activities.
Charges and arrest
“Those detained in recent days were allegedly defrauding an elderly resident of Kassel, Germany. The woman gave them EUR 115,000. Fortunately, in this case, the entire amount was recovered during the arrest of the person who received the money,” KSP reports.

The detainees were charged with participating in an organized criminal group engaged in fraud. All six were taken into custody.
“The case is of an evolving nature. Police officers of the Criminal Department of the Capital Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the German police, are collecting materials that may result in further charges being brought against the detainees,” summarizes the Warsaw Police Headquarters.
