The police detained activists who demonstrated for an hour in the Law and Justice office at Nowogrodzka Street. The protest concerned “civic supervision and agency in setting the goals of energy companies.”

On Monday morning, activists from the Climate Solidarity Movement entered the headquarters of Law and Justice and blocked the office for an hour, demanding a conversation with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. As they wrote in the communiqué, “they stuck and handcuffed themselves inside the office of the ruling party.”

The incident was confirmed by the police. – Around 10.30 am, eight people entered the headquarters of the PiS party. During their stay, they disrupted the functioning of the office. Police officers were called to the site – said Sylwester Marczak, spokesman for the Warsaw Police Headquarters.

As we established, they were all detained and transported to the police station. They can hear charges in connection with Article 191 of the Penal Code, which speaks of “forcing to certain behavior”. – Proceedings are pending. A notification from representatives of the office and one of the applicants whose inviolability has been violated is accepted, added the spokesman.

As we read in the press release on the movement’s website, “despite being led away by the police, people taking part in the action consider their action a success”, because – as they stated – “such actions allow publicizing the case and reveals the true attitude of the rulers to people who suffer from the current situation management system of energy companies and the fact that the authorities do not want to make it easier for people to produce cheap energy.

Two and a half weeks ago, activists from the Climate Solidarity Movement sent an open letter to the Prime Minister, in which they demanded “social representation, civic supervision and agency in setting the goals of energy companies”. Their postulate is also to take action to develop energy cooperatives in each commune. “The development of local cooperatives that can engage people and provide access to distributed green energy was one of the main postulates of the citizens’ panel held at the end of last year” – the activists wrote in the communiqué. According to them, they have not received an answer.
