The capital city hall continues the program of building elevators in multi-storey buildings belonging to the city. According to officials, residents of nine houses in Praga Północ, Praga Południe and Śródmieście have easier access to the premises.
Recently, as part of the program, elevators have been made available to residents in five buildings: in Praga Północ at Ząbkowska 36, Siedlecka 29 and Brzeska 29/31; in Praga Południe at Grochowska 297; in Śródmieście, at Szwoleżerów 5c. “There are another 27 lifts under construction, which will be installed in Praga Północ, Wola, Żoliborz and Śródmieście. Their implementation is at various stages of advancement, but they will be put into use no later than the end of 2024” – ensure the officials.
In turn, as part of the Integrated Revitalization Program and comprehensive modernization of empty residential buildings in the Praga-Północ district, in 2021 four buildings were retrofitted: at Łochowska 38A, Łochowska 43, Siedlecka 25 and Otwocka 7.
The city helps, but it’s up to the communities to decide
“Warsaw also supports the construction of elevators in community properties in which it has shares. During the implementation of the investment adopted by a resolution by the owners of the communities, the city will participate in the costs on the same terms as other members of it, proportionally to its share” – announces the city hall.
He also emphasizes that the decision to retrofit buildings with elevators rests with the condominiums, including the determination of the method of financing and obtaining any required opinions, designs and permits.
“For private entities, there is a possibility of financial support from external sources, eg from the Program of Equalization of Differences and the Accessibility Fund implemented by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego” – sums up the city.
