Police officers from Śródmieście detained a man suspected of stealing money belonging to a woman he had met on a dating site shortly before. He faces up to five years in prison.

– Over PLN 18,000 in Polish and foreign currency was lost by a woman who invited a man she had just met online. The 53-year-old moved in with the victim after only three days of acquaintance on a popular dating site – described Robert Szumiata from the Warsaw I Police Department.

As he reported, after two weeks of living together, the woman was robbed. – When she returned from work one day, the 53-year-old was gone. With it, all the cash he had saved disappeared from the dresser drawer. A man some time ago asked a woman to lend him money for a ticket. Perhaps he did it to see where his new friend kept the money, reported Szumiata.

The man was detained by the police officers from the crime fighting against the property of the downtown police department. The 53-year-old has been charged with theft. This offense is punishable by up to five years in prison, police said.
