The Border Guard detained six Indian citizens at Chopin Airport. They wanted to fly to Spain, but the trip was interrupted. The reason was the passports – although they were original, they belonged to other people.

Spokeswoman of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit, Capt. Border Guard Dagmara Bielec reported that six foreigners, pretending to be Indian citizens, tried to fly from Poland to Spain using the so-called the likeness method – they used other people's original passports. Among those detained was a teenage boy.

Four of them were detained last weekend, the remaining two – on Monday. The action plan was the same in both cases. – The foreigners had an original passport issued by the Indian authorities, but each document contained the image of a different person. It also turned out that they all got to Poland illegally, crossing the border from Belarus, Bielec described.

All of them were detained and charged with using someone else's document. – The foreigners pleaded guilty, also provided their true personal details and confirmed that they were Indian citizens. Among those detained was a minor boy who, during a conversation with the officers, expressed his will to stay in Poland and apply for international protection, Bielec noted.

The boy was released and taken to an emergency care facility. In addition, the Commander of the Border Guard at the Okęcie airport submitted a request to the court to appoint a guardian to represent the boy in the proceedings for granting international protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland and to establish foster care.

They will spend three months at the center

Administrative proceedings were initiated against the remaining Indian citizens to oblige them to return. By court decision, the men were placed in a guarded center for foreigners for three months.
