Tramwajiers are starting a large renovation on Bankowy Square. They will replace the entire switching node for a month. The works were divided into four stages. Passengers of public transport and drivers await difficulties.

Works at Bankowa Square will start on Monday, May 26. Warsaw trams will join them immediately after the renovation of the track on the viaduct in Aleja Jana Pawła II.

The switching node located at the intersection of the Solidarity Avenue with Marszałkowska will be arranged again. He passed the last repair in 2009. Now the trams intend to dismantle the entire track surface, clean the ground and install new tracks and switch, and lay a new asphalt surface around.

“After completing the work, crossing the intersection – both by tram and car – will be more convenient” – announce Warsaw trams in a communiqué.

The first stage of work

During the renovation, the movement at the intersection will not be completely suspended. To make this possible, it is necessary to carry out work in four stages. At the beginning, from May 26 to June 1, switches will be replaced on the eastern side of the intersection.

At that time, tram and bus stops in the middle of al. “Solidarity” will be closed. The tram traffic will be turned off from pl. Banking to the Vilnius station. “Trams will ride Marszałkowska – Andersa and Marszałkowska – Al. 'Solidarity' (towards Femina cinema)” – announce tramwajars.

In addition, drivers driving from the WZ route tunnel will not be able to use one of the left turn lanes with al. “Solidarity” to Bankowy Square.

Replacement communication

Line trams 4, 23 and 26 They will not run. Line routes will change 3, 13, 20 and 36. Foster -line buses will run through the Solidarity Avenue Z26.

“Line trams 3 In selected courses, they will travel along the route of Żerań Wschodni – Wiatracza Roundabout. Line trams 13 They will only travel in Prague – between rent and the Kawęczyńska -Basilica loop (along Renta, Stalowa, 11 November, Targowa and Kiev streets). Passengers also have to take into account the change of tourist trams of line 36. From the weekend May 31 – June 1 they will be directed to the Wolski Cemetery instead of at Narutowicza Square. Their route from Andersa Street will lead through rates, al. John Paul II, Prosta, Kasprzaka and Wolska.

Tram complementary lines will run during the renovation 68, 74 and 76. Line trams 68 They will go from Żerań FSO to the Wschodni Dworzec along the streets: Jagiellońska, Ratuszowa, Targowa and Kiev. Line 74 It will connect Metro Młociny with races along Nocznickiego, Wólczyńska, Broniewskiego, Al. Reymonta, Powstańców Śląskich, Połczyńska, Wolska, al. “Solidarity”, Marszałkowska and Puławy.

Line trams 76 They will transport passengers from Nowy Bemów to the town of Wilanów. The compositions with this number will be replaced by shortened “Sixteen” courses on the route Miasteczko Wilanów – Muranowska. They will run along the: Wilanów town – Aleja Rzeczpospolita – Jan III Sobieski – Belvedere – Spacerowa – Goworka – Puławska – Marszałkowska – Banking Square – Aleja “Solidarity” – Młynarska – Camp – 303 Squadron – Radio – Radio – Silesian Insurgents – Nowe Bemowo.

Replacement bus line Z26 It will run along the “Solidarity” Avenue on the Okopowa route – Wileński Dworzec. Trams announce that buses will stop at stops near the closed tram stops.

The second and third stage of work

The second stage is planned between 2 and 8 June. The trams will then deal with switches on the west side of the intersection.

The third stage of the work – focused on the central part of the intersection – will take place from 9 to 15 June.

Both stages require suspension of trams traffic to the banking square to the Fewina cinema. At this time, the warehouses will run in the Marszałkowska – Al. “Solidarity” towards the Old Town and Dw. However, from the side of Żoliborz, trams will only commute to the Metro Town Hall Arsenal stop, where the overlay switch will be built. Buses in both stages will not pass through the tram and bus stop Metro Town Hall Arsenal at al. “Solidarity”.

Warsaw trams warn that these stages will be associated with the greatest difficulties for drivers. Driving from Anders and the WZ route tunnel will be able to use a temporary dizzy towards Bankowa Square, located at the height of the church. In turn, driving Marszałkowska towards Żoliborz, they will not be able to turn left into the “Solidarity” Avenue on Bankowy Square. The detour will be conducted along Grzybowska Street and Aleja Jana Pawła II.

The fourth stage of work

The fourth stage of work is planned from 16 to 23 June. Applies to switches on the southern side of the intersection.

The tram traffic will be suspended between the Metro Town Hall and Centrum Metro stops. “In the area of ​​these stops there will be overlay switches. Drivers will not turn from the square both in the direction of Al. Jana Pawła II and the Old Town. In turn, the riding from Al. Jana Pawła II will not go straight towards the tunnel of the route wz.

Trams warn that the completion of work on Bankowa Square will not mean the end of changes in trams during Marszałkowska.
