There is an arrest for the driver who caused the tragic accident on Woronicza. The prosecutor's office reported that he had previously been convicted of causing a road accident, and that he regained his driving license in February of this year.
– The court agreed with the prosecutor's request – informed Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
The request for arrest was related, among other things, to the severe punishment the man faced and the related fear of escape.
Earlier on Wednesday, the spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw announced that an investigation had been initiated towards causing a land traffic disaster that resulted in the death of two people.
– This act is punishable by imprisonment from six months to eight years – said prosecutor Skiba.
He noted that in this case the prosecutor of the Warsaw-Mokotów District Prosecutor's Office issued a decision to press charges against the driver.
He reported that autopsies had been ordered for the two deceased individuals, and that experts were called in to investigate the course of the incident. He emphasized that the condition of those transported to Warsaw hospitals was stable.
The driver has already been convicted for causing an accident
– The evidence collected so far shows that the man was driving a car exceeding the speed limit in that location – said the spokesman.
He also confirmed media reports that the man who caused the accident on Woronicza had previously had his driving license taken away. – According to the information we have obtained, in February this year this driver regained his driving license. He had previously been convicted of causing a road traffic accident – said prosecutor Skiba.
He noted that at this stage it is known that the man was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
First he hit a pedestrian, then he crashed into a bus stop
On Tuesday, a passenger car drove into at the bus stop on Woronicza Street. One person died at the scene, five, including a child, were taken to hospital. After 1 p.m. it turned out that a woman had died in hospital. This is the second fatality in the accident.
The spokesman for the Provincial Emergency Medical Service “Meditrans” reported that three women are in hospital – a 33-year-old, a 34-year-old and a 48-year-old, who were admitted with head and lower limb injuries. In turn, a 3.5-year-old child was transported in a serious but stable condition. He has a damaged facial skeleton – especially the mandible and lower limbs.
