On Tuesday evening, tram traffic on Aleja “Solidarności” in Warsaw was suspended for over an hour and a half. Five lines were directed to detours.
As our reporter learned, the reason for the suspension of traffic was a suspicious package found in the tram. – One of the passengers informed the tram driver about it. He stopped at the stop next to the Praski Hospital, asked the passengers to get out and locked the vehicle. The services were called – Artur Węgrzynowicz established. He added that pyrotechnicians were called to the scene. – During their operation, road traffic was also suspended – he added.
– Police actions are ongoing. The cause is a package left in a tram – confirmed to us by Deputy Commissioner Rafał Rutkowski from the Warsaw Police Headquarters.
“Due to the blocked passage in the area of al. Solidarności/Sierakowskiego streets, there are disruptions in the operation of lines 4, 13, 20, 23, 26. Possible delays and redirection of lines to detour routes” – the Public Transport Authority warned in a statement. Trams were redirected to detour routes.
Buses 160 and 190 ran without the Park Praski 01 and Park Praski 02 stops. A replacement bus line was launched on the route between Dworzec Wileński and Plac Bankowy. Traffic was restored before 8:45 p.m.
– Police officers from the pyrotechnic reconnaissance checked the package. No threat was found. No one was arrested in the case. There is no longer any threat in connection with this report. Police operations have ended – Rutkowski summed up.
