Celebrations related to the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising are taking place in Warsaw. A March of Remembrance is planned for Thursday, August 5, which will pass along the streets of Wola. In this way, the participants will pay tribute to the civilian population murdered during the Wola Massacre. Finally, they will light candles in the Park Powstańców Warszawy.
Celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising already started on Thursday, laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Memorial Chamber at the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery. On the weekend, as every year, the highlight of the anniversary celebrations was paying tribute to the insurgents at the Gloria Victis monument in Powązki “W” hours. It was then that sirens sounded all over the city.
Throughout August and September, anniversary events will also be organized by individual districts and insurgent circles. The Warsaw Uprising Museum has also prepared its program of celebrations.
On Thursday, August 5, the town hall has planned one of the city’s events. At 2 p.m., on the square between Anielewicza and Okopowa Streets, a ceremony will be held to commemorate the capture of the “Gęsiówka” Camp by “Zośka” Battalion.

March of Remembrance in Wola
At 6 p.m., on the Memorial Square at the fork of Leszno Street and “Solidarności” Avenue, at the Monument to the Memory of 50 Thousand Residents of Wola Murdered by the Germans during the Warsaw Uprising 1944, tribute will be paid to the civilians murdered during the Wola Massacre. From there, the participants of the ceremony will follow the March of Remembrance towards the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery. During the process, the names of residents will be spoken out of the capital who died during the uprising.
The end of the March of Remembrance is scheduled for 20.30. Participants will light candles at the Monument to the Fallen Undefeated and at the “Keep them in memory” exhibition dedicated to the civilian victims of the uprising in the Warsaw Insurgents Park in Wola.

Official the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising will end on October 2. On this day at 12 noon, a monument to “Women of the Warsaw Uprising” will be unveiled on Krasińskich Square.
