Climate activists, dissatisfied with the agreement reached during the COP26 summit, entered the streets of Warsaw on Friday. They will go along the Łazienkowska Route in front of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, from where – after a stop – they will start towards the Daszyńskiego roundabout. The Public Transport Authority informs about difficulties in the operation of buses and trams.

Young people started to gather in front of the Polish Ride monument and at Pole Mokotowskie around 11.25. After 12.30, they set off along the Łazienkowska Route in front of the Ministry of Climate and Environment at Wawelska 52/54. A stop is planned there. Then they will pass Wawelska, Grójecka and Towarowa streets to the Daszyńskiego roundabout.

According to the reporter tvnwarszawa.pl, about 100-150 people participate in the protest. They are holding banners with the words: “Why do we have to fight for our future?” The police are also there.

“3 decades of inactivity”

Cop-26 just ended. There was no shortage of Greenwashing, but the activities that we now need are still missing. Finally, leaders must understand that, according to experts’ speculations, time is running out and the next 30 years will not be. That is why on this Friday, November 19, the Warsaw summary of the global Fridays For Future mobilization will be held under the slogan ‘3 decades of inactivity’. Let’s go out into the streets and show that we do not agree to the next three decades of inactivity on the part of the rulers “- he announced a few days ago on his Facebook Youth Climate Strike.

Over 700 people responded to the announcement of the event, and 230 of them declared their presence on Friday. “We will go to the streets to show passive politicians and politicians that ignoring such a powerful problem as the climate crisis is unacceptable. How many more climate summits must pass? Our planet cannot wait! WE will not wait! Time to act” – reads the announcement events.

The protesters started gathering before 12 noon in Pole MokotowskieMateusz Szmelter / tvnwarszawa.pl
