A huge fire broke out on Friday in Siemianowice Śląskie. Clouds of black smoke could be seen from several dozen kilometers away. At Kontakt 24 we received photos and a recording of the Brynica River, through which water contaminated with chemicals flows.

The mayor of Czeladź – Zbigniew Szaleniec wrote on social media that the water in the river contaminated with chemicals does not pose a threat to the sources of drinking water located 70 meters underground. He added that water gates blocked the flow of water from Brynica to the reservoir on Grabek, so there is no danger of contamination of this pond.

The weekly Wprost and then Gazeta Wyborcza wrote about water in the river contaminated with chemicals.

In an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza, Linda Hofman, spokeswoman for PGW Wody Polskie in Gliwice, said that the dirty water in Brynica is the result of a fire that broke out in Siemianowice Śląskie. Hofman said that as a result of the firefighting, extinguishing substances and dissolved chemicals ended up in the Michałkowice Canal, which flows into the Brynica near Bańgów.
